Call
for papers
Asteriskos, Journal of International and Peace
Studies, is now announcing the call for papers for its fourth issue to be printed in November,
2007. In this specific issue, Asteriskos will be focused on
research on women and armed conflicts, in all its possible features,
as women in peace operations, women and armed forces, UN Security
Council 1325 Resolution, women's identity in armed conflicts, women
as war victims, etc.

Submission
Articles should be original, in Portuguese-Galizan, Spanish or in English. Proposals in other languages will also be considered. Authors should send a copy of the manuscript of the article,
labelled and typed in double spacing throughout, to the following e-mail address until the 1st of September
2007 to:

Articles
must contain:
-title and subtitle page with full name of the author(s) with current affiliation and full regular mail and e-mail;
-authors should also list up to seven key-words;
-abstract (in English and Portuguese; translation may be arranged with the Editors) of 100-150 words;
-main text of about 7.000 words clearly organized, with a clear hierarchy of headings and subheadings.
-references cited in the text (author, year:page);
-footnotes should be displayed at the bottom of the page;
-tables, figures, pictures and illustrations (original) should have a good range of contrast; they should also
be numbered consecutively and clearly identified;
-alphabetical reference (Harvard) section after the text;
-a short (up to 5 lines) biographical note should also be supplied on a separate sheet;
-authors are responsible for obtaining permissions from copyright holders for any quotation, illustration or table;
-authors will receive one copy of the issue where their article was
published.
Book Reviews
The journal will include a section in which relevant books are reviewed; manuscripts in clear readable style should have up to 1.000 words and should be sent to the same address; authors will also receive one copy of the
issue.

Monograph: Mulleres en conflito: presenzas e ausencias
Celebrating the creation of the Women and Armed Conflicts Observatory,
the Institute will publish a collective monograph in which more than
twenty researchers from Portugal, Brazil, United States, Spain,
Ireland, ... will contribute. Its eighteen chapters, specially
written for this volume, and using the UN 1325 Resolution as a
starting point, will tackle the presence and absence of women in
armed conflict from a wide range of perspectives.
